About me

Born in the Canadian prairies and raised in Vancouver, BC I obtained my undergraduate and master's degrees at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia.  I received my PhD in 1996 from the University of Kentucky for a thesis on the political ecology of water management in post-communist Bulgaria.

I have more than 100 publications, mostly in the area of sustainable resource management at the community scale. I am actively researching community and household scale sustainable water systems in Uganda, Peru and India.  I am also collaborating with UK water companies on sustainable water use amongst domestic and non-domestic consumers.
